Nika C. Beamon is the author of the well-received memoir, Misdiagnosed: The Search for Dr. House. It garnered rave reviews from Kirkus Reviews, Publisher's Weekly, IndieReader, etc... It also received several notable advanced endorsements from bestselling authors: Wes Moore, Richard Cohen, Marya Hornbacher and Paula Kamen.
In 2009, Chicago Review Press published her non-fiction book, I Didn't Work This Hard Just to Get Married in 2009. Beamon is currently a TV News Writer in New York, as well as a contributor to the Huffington Post. Prior to a career in television, she pursued a BA in Communications and a BA in Sociology at Boston College in Massachusetts.
Beamon has been credited as a reference in the several books on television news including: Covering Catastrophe: Broadcast Journalist Report on September 11 by Alison Gilbert and News is People: the Rise of Local TV News and the Fall of News from New York by Craig M. Allen. She has also won several awards throughout her career including a Peabody Award for ABC News’ coverage of the September 11th attacks.
She is a member of the Great Black Speakers Bureau, the Writers Guild of America East, and the National Association of Black Journalists. She has been the keynote speaker for Autoimmune Walk NYC sponsored by the AARDA.
