Live Long Enough

At different points in my life I’ve asked the questions, who am I? What defines me? What is my purpose?

I can tell you the answers sometimes vary but there are some things that are constant. I am a woman living with a rare disease who doesn’t accept that I can’t be or do something because of how God made me. So, I am also an author, a journalist, a wife, a present aunt, godmother, a friend and so much more. I am also committed to doing what I can to help others.

My mother used to say the phrase, “live long enough” to me all the time. She would say you have to live long enough to do all you want to do in this brief life. Live long enough so that medical advancements help you live a better quality of life. Live long enough so you can see your life has meaning and impact to those you love. Live long enough and well enough so that your starting point isn’t your ending point. All I can say is I am trying. So, when I was asked to participate in an article for USA Today I said yes.
