Is this the most wonderful time of the year like the famous Andy Williams song claims? 

For some people I suppose. But, there are many others who struggle to find the joy for a multitude of reasons like lack of family or friends, financial struggles, seasonal affective disorder, conditions that worsen in the cold, etc…  I know that the cold makes my joints ache and icy conditions make it hard for me to get around. Of course I also have a bit of sadness due to the loss of my parents and others like my grandma Nettie, whose birthday would’ve been today. 

Some people show their discontentment much like guys in the balcony on The Muppet Show: Statler and Waldorf. But, like them they keep coming back… facing their challenges while looking for some source of joy. So perhaps, if you see someone looking down this season, you will try to be that bright spot for them.
