My Review:

I seriously could relate to the character Nika Beamon in Misdiagnosed. I don’t have the same disease she had, but I do have stage 4 ovarian cancer that’s rare. I know what it’s like to have doctors and surgeons say there’s nothing they can do for me and that I most likely will die. I also know what it’s like to fight to live and not take no for an answer.

For anyone who has ever had an illness, Nika is highly relatable. I applaud this character’s strength to find the answer she’s been looking for about her illness. I can imagine her pain over the whole ordeal. However when it comes to her love life – I was really upset with her, although I can understand why she decided to stay with Bryce. I think it’s because I detest being treated like a doormat, so I don’t like to see anyone else treated like one. I wanted her to get rid of Bryce because he was obviously not a good boyfriend: friend, yes; boyfriend, no.

I didn’t like how Bryce treated her; Nika needed support, and though he was there for her physically, he wasn’t there for her emotionally. When someone’s health is deteriorating and it shows physically, that person is already feeling self-conscious and not pretty – I can attest to that! I just wanted her to get rid of him and get back to herself.

I was glad she finally found someone in the end and has a new outlook on life. She’s right about one thing: death doesn’t discriminate and will come for us all. Not only that, but be thankful for life and what you do have. I’m ecstatic that Nika finally found some answers about her illness. It gives the rest of us hope.
